  •   美化青年的身心,激勵青年的壯志,創造青年的幸福,光明青年的前途,啓發青年的智慧,展現青年的才華。
      We have to beautify young people’s heart and minds, inspire their lofty ideals, create their happiness, brighten their prospects, enlighten their wisdom, and unfold their brilliance of mind.
  •   可憐不自覺:我相現前易著魔,貢高我慢易著魔,我執我見易著魔,陰行自私易著魔,修行若不識魔相,慧命堪虞自可憐,惟有佛前真懺悔,回光返照空照魔。
      It’s a pity not to be aware; thus it’s easy to be bewitched when one shows egoism, when one shows self-conceit and arrogance, when one holds on to his ego and his views of self, and when one behaves in a selfish and sinister way. One who practices Buddhist dharma and knows nothing about forms of devils, has to worry about his own wisdom and understanding of life. One has to secure oneself by confessing sincerely before a Buddha statue, and he will be enlightened with the wisdom to see through devils.
  •   吃飯要吃好,睡眠要睡好,工作要做好,修行要修好。
      When you are eating, eat well; when sleeping, sleep well; when working, work well; and when practicing Buddhist rules, practice well.
  •   善行人根本,行善福無量;自利以利人,自他兩俱利,此乃菩薩行。覺悟證真理,真理導世人,是名為菩薩。人乘之大道,推行在菩薩;人人做菩薩,娑婆淨土成。
      Doing good is the root of human existence, and good deeds lead to boundless good fortune. Regulate and benefit oneself so as to benefit others, and both will both obtain benefits because such deeds are the conduct of a Bodhisattva. One who obtains enlightenment by testifying the truth, and leads worldly people with such truth is called a Bodhisattva. It is the Bodhisattva who promotes the way of Jen-cheng (human-vehicle) Buddhism; and if everyone can conduct himself as a Bodhisattva, then a pure land in this world is realized.
  •   樂即是苦,苦即是樂,得到解脫,不苦不樂;若不了此,墮!墮!墮!墮!。
      One aspect of joy is suffering; and suffering is joy. When you obtain liberation, there is neither joy nor suffering. If you do not realize it, you will only fall and keep falling in your practice.
  •   孤立別人,就是孤立自己;成就別人,就是成就自己。
      Isolating others isolates oneself; helping others achieve is one’s own achievement.
  •   人乘佛子,乘人之乘;行菩薩道,直達佛地。
      The Buddha’s children, followers of Jen-cheng (human-vehicle) Buddhism, by taking advantage of their human form and conducting themselves the way of a Bodhisattva, will reach directly the ultimate state of Buddhahood.
  •   父母撫養、教育恩,山高海樣深;社會眾生恩,世人得生存;聖化師教恩,智慧有技能;衞民國家恩,樂業保安寧;四恩時時報,道德日日增。
      We must always be grateful to our parents who raise and educate us. Our parents’ significant favor is deeper than the sea and higher than mountains. We must be grateful to society and all people for allowing everyone to survive; to all saints for teaching us wisdom and skill; and to our nation for providing us with protection, employment, and a peaceful life. If everyone is always grateful and returns favors, the level of morality in our society will increase everyday.
  •   眾生有方所、有內外、有中邊;佛法是無方所、無內外、無中邊。
      All beings have senses of direction and location, inside and outside, center and peripheral; while the Buddhist dharma has no measures of direction or position, inside or outside, center or boundary.
  •   學佛的人不但要拜菩薩,敬菩薩,還要學菩薩、做菩薩。
      One who is learning to become a Buddha has to pay respect to and worship the Bodhisattva, and on top of that, he has to learn from the Bodhisattva and be a Bodhisattva as well.
  •   以智慧治理財產,平時修善積德,了解世間錢財乃身外之物,生不帶來,死不帶去,最要緊的是,我們要修功德法財。
      We have to manage our wealth through wisdom. In daily life, we have to do virtuous deeds whenever possible and gradually accumulate the merit of virtue; being aware that wealth consists merely of worldly possessions which we were born without and will not take with us at death. What matters most is that we want to become rich in the ‘dharma wealth’ of achievement of practice of Buddhist rules and virtuous conduct.
  •   一個菩薩行者,是以願力為食。
      One who is practicing the Bodhisattva’s conduct has to sustain himself with his vows of benefiting all beings.
  •   要建設佛化家庭,就要廣學多聞,真正了解佛教的道理,把佛法運用到日常生活中,運用到家庭裡,運用到處世做人方面來,那麼幸福的家庭就建立起來了。
      To establish a Buddhist family, we have to learn extensively from the Buddhist dharma to truly understand its meaning and apply it to daily activities, family life, dealing with people and personal conduct; and then will a happy family be realized.
  •   出家就是要出五欲六塵之家。
      To leave home and lead a monastic life is actually to leave the “home” of five desires and six sensation objects (sight, sound, smell, taste, touch and thought).
  •   學佛不是要得到什麼,而是要拔除心中的雜草,使智慧光明顯現。
      To learn to become a Buddha is not to expect to gain something, it is rather to pull out the weeds in your mind and reveal the light of your wisdom.
